Disney and Lucasfilm recently registered upcoming Star Wars TV series Skeleton Crew with the U.S. Copyright Office and we now have a projected premiere date for the Disney+ series. The hope had been that the show might be with us before the end of 2023 but it's currently listed for a January 2024 debut.

A brief synopsis matches up with what we heard earlier this year about the children at the centre of this story getting lost in a "strange and dangerous" Galaxy. After watching Ahsoka, we have to believe this is a reference to Peridia, with the crew likely responsible for bringing Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren home.

In related news, the Star Wars Celebration trailer for Skeleton Crew has now leaked online and, while we won't be sharing it here, it is readily available on social media platforms.

As we reported back in April after watching the sneak peek in London, it kicks off at a school and we follow a couple of the show's kids as they ride a speeder through the forest. They long for adventure beyond the classroom and, when their parents return home one night, they're gone. One of the girls is wearing a visor that brings back memories of a certain other franchise with "Star" in the title, and we saw lots of flashes of them exploring the Galaxy together.

The Mandalorian villain Vane makes a fleeting appearance and it appears pirates will be the ones menacing this group. The kids are definitely in over their heads, and they eventually find themselves behind bars. Luckily, a key floats to the door, and one exclaims, "He's a Jedi!" The Jedi in question removes his hood and, yes, it's Jude Law's unnamed character.

Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Law leads the series and is joined by young actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon also star, while the directing team consists of Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.

Stay tuned for Skeleton Crew updates as we have them.

Some info about SKELETON CREW from the US copyright office. Approximate release of January 2024.
