STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE's Release Window Has Been Revealed (And It's Coming Sooner Than Expected)

Despite delays to just about every upcoming movie and TV show caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, we have a possible release window for Star Wars: The Acolyte and it's not as far off as we thought...

A first look at Star Wars: The Acolyte was revealed during April's Star Wars Celebration, though the trailer has yet to be released online for fans to watch.

Early word on the series is incredibly positive and there's a huge amount of excitement to finally explore The High Republic era (which takes place roughly 350 to 50 years prior to The Phantom Menace) on screen. Sadly, we don't have news on that trailer but can share a possible release window for the series itself!

According to Bespin Bulletin, while we already know The Acolyte is taking aim at a 2024 release on Disney+, it's actually been slotted in for a second-quarter debut.

That should place it somewhere between April 1 and June 30, a surprise when we've previously heard it might close out the year. Andor season 2 is already confirmed for an August release, while The Mandalorian isn't currently expected to return until 2025.

That's a result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, both of which may end up delaying The Acolyte as well. Skeleton Crew was supposed to premiere this year, but it's been a while since we've heard anything and there's a chance it too is going to drop in early 2024.

The Acolyte will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era with the story of former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva and Joonas Suotamo.

In addition to writing and directing, Leslye Headland serves as an executive producer with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson produce.

The Acolyte is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
