Ahead of this week's launch of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season two, we were able to sit down with executive producers Jennifer Corbett & Brad Rau to talk about what kind of exciting new adventures our favorite squad of clones will embark on throughout the course of the new year.

While they masterfully danced around potential spoilers, they did elaborate on how the Batch's accelerated aging will impact them moving forward, what's to come for a now aged-up Omega, the possibility of heading to Tattooine, their collaborative process with Dave Filoni, and what the return of Commander Cody might mean for the Bad Batch.

ROHAN: When season two picks up, some time has passed and Omega is a little older. The Bad Batch also ages at an accelerated rate - is that something you plan on exploring as we get deeper into the series?

BRAD: Yeah, a little bit of time has passed, everyone's a little beat up. Omega is a little older, worth mentioning, Omega does not age in an accelerated way, but the other Bad Batch does. So, it’s something we mentioned at the end of season one that she's technically older than them, that's really kind of a funny thing, but yeah, we explore all of that we get into, we get into all of those facets of the clones, for sure.

ROHAN: Your show will eventually overlap with the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, is there any chance the Bad Batch could travel to Tatooine to cross paths with that iconic Star Wars character?

JENNIFER: We're still so early in the Age of the Empire. We’re a few years before Obi-Wan, but I think the Batch are in a different place on a different path than those characters, but they do go to various planets, but I would say Tattooine is not one of them.

ROHAN: With Dave Filoni hard at work on The Mandalorian season three, what is your collaborative process with him as he maps out what's happening in the galaxy post-Return of the Jedi while you're working in the post-Revenge of the Sith era? What kind of feedback do you receive from him?

BRAD: Yeah, we collaborate really closely with Dave, I mean, just to speak of a specific example of that, in season one when Fennec Shand shows up. She was first introduced in The Mandalorian and we were able to work with Ming-Na Wen as the younger Fennec in the Bad Batch, which was so cool and something like that takes a lot of discussion and the Lucasfilm Story Group is involved. They're key to how shows will connect to make sure things are consistent throughout. Yeah, it's so great working with Dave and he always has a careful eye on what we're doing.

JENNIFER: Same with season two, like we don't want to get into spoilers but, Dave had feedback on several things throughout some episodes and we try to connect things as much as we can without, you know, but again, we're in a different space than the live action shows and their timelines.

ROHAN: This isn't a spoiler, but the trailer revealed the return of Commander Cody. What can you tell us about his role this season and what it means for the Bad Batch?

BRAD: Yeah, I mean, without spoilers, but yeah, so fun to have Cody back and that was an idea from Dave. We were really, really excited to see how Crosshair interacts with him. it's kind of like a reversal.

JENNIFER: I think what Brad was saying was that we we enjoyed pairing him with Crosshair because now that Crosshair is without his squad of the Bad Batch and without his squad of ES Troopers, he’s in this very interesting place within the Empire, and, you know, Cody is one of the few regs that that crosshair really respects. So, we had the opportunity to have what felt like a classic sort of Clone War story told through their perspective. So, we're very excited about that.

When the new season of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” opens, months have passed since the events on Kamino, and the Bad Batch continue their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic. They will cross paths with friends and foes, both new and familiar, as they take on a variety of thrilling mercenary missions that will take them to unexpected and dangerous new places.
