STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Star Andy Serkis Gets Brutally Honest About Supreme Leader Snoke's Shocking Fate

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Supreme Leader Snoke was killed in short order by Kylo Ren. Now, Andy Serkis is getting candid about how that felt and whether he would be open to reprising the role one day.

The Force Awakens established Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke as the Star Wars franchise's new big bad, and speculation immediately started running rampant about who or what the leader of the First Order was.

Emperor Palpatine's secret apprentice? Darth Plagueis? A clone? The truth was revealed in The Rise of Skywalker when we discovered Palpatine had survived his death in Return of the Jedi, with Snoke a mere puppet he controlled from Exegol. It was a  convoluted and borderline nonsensical reveal and one that came after the villain's sudden demise in The Last Jedi.

Filmmaker Rian Johnson decided to have Kylo Ren cut his Master in half, establishing himself as the First Order's new Supreme Leader. It was a moment that left a lasting impact, but also one that left fans scratching their heads.

Now, Serkis has shared his own disappointment over how that arc ended.

"Let me just phrase it like this. When I went in to read The Last Jedi, [I spent] the first 30 pages thinking, 'This is the most incredible character,'" the actor and director tells GQ. "Then I turned the page: 'And then Snoke gets sliced in half.' And I was gutted. Gutted."

Clearly disappointed with how things ended, Serkis would add that he would still be open to reprising the role should the opportunity present itself.

"I actually really love that character," he notes. "And I’m putting it out there: I wouldn’t mind if he came back."

The best opportunity for that to happen will be in The Mandalorian. The Disney+ series has heavily teased the Empire's interest in cloning following Palpatine's demise, with Grogu thought to be key in restoring the villain to his former power. We've even seen a failed clone that looked a little like Snoke, so the show may end up serving as his origin story.

If that means getting some answers to the many unanswered questions we have about Snoke, fingers crossed that the divisive baddie gets the chance to shine at least one more (with the always-excellent Serkis making his return, of course).

Were you disappointed with Supreme Leader Snoke's shock fate in The Last Jedi?
