The Star Wars franchise is an absolute phenomenon, inspiring an entire generation of filmmakers and forever changing the landscape of sci-fi storytelling.

It began in 1977 with George Lucas' Star Wars, a movie that would be released with a new title - A New Hope - decades later. Re-releases actually became the norm for the series in the years that followed, with the movies those of you were fortunate enough to watch on the big screen when they were originally released quite a bit different from the ones you'll find on Disney+!

Regardless, that original story continued with The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and concluded with 1983's Return of the Jedi

Sixteen years would pass before Lucas returned to the franchise, attempting to follow that classic franchise with a series of prequel movies exploring Darth Vader's origin story and the fall of the Jedi Order.

First up was 1999's The Phantom Menace, with Attack of the Clones following in 2002 before the story wrapped up in Revenge of the Sith three years later. The movies remain divisive, but as many of you grew up on those, we know they hold a special place in your hearts.

In 2012, Disney acquired Lucasfilm and set out to make a new sequel trilogy...minus Lucas' input. The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019) continue to create dissension among fans, with the creative decisions made - particularly with original sequel trilogy characters - failing to strike a chord with many.

It was during that period we also got a couple of spin-off movies in 2016's Rogue One and Solo two years later. The "A Star Wars Story" idea was dropped after the latter disappointed at the box office, though it's a shame as it was an idea with potential.

Oh, and we can't forget 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the animated feature that set the stage for The Clone Wars TV show.

Now, we want you, SFFGazette.com's readers, to decide which of these movies deserves to be considered the best one. You can do so by casting your vote in the poll below - as for the results, we'll be sharing those in a few days!
