THE MANDALORIAN Brings Back Season 2 Characters And Drops Major STAR WARS Prequels Easter Egg - SPOILERS

The Mandalorian's latest episode brought back some familiar faces from the show's second season and dropped quite the reference to the Star Wars prequels that fans of those and The Clone Wars will love!

Despite repeated claims that they wouldn't be part of The Mandalorian season 3, both Simon Kassianides and Mercedes Varnado reprised their respective roles as Axe Woves and Koska Reeves in an episode aptly titled "Guns For Hire."

It turns out Bo-Katan Kryze was right and her former followers have indeed become mercenaries, embarking on missions for credits and turning their backs on her quest to retake their home. We don't spend a huge amount of time with them in this episode beyond a cold open, but it's the end of Chapter 22 where things get interesting.

After successfully solving the mystery of some malfunctioning droids on an opulent planet called Plazir-15, Bo-Katan confronts Woves - who has been hired as security - after he ousted the Princess from her role as this group's leader.

That was down to her returning without the Darksaber, of course, a weapon these particular Mandalorians believe can only be wielded by Mandalore's rightful ruler (hence why so many of them fell in line behind Maul during the events of The Clone Wars).

Bo-Katan is left with no other choice than to challenge Woves to a fight, with the victor named the rightful ruler of these warriors. After a hard-fought battle, he's defeated, but it wouldn't be unfair to say no one looks particularly happy about it.

However, that all changes when the Darksaber comes into play and you can find out what happened next by clicking here

The events of "Guns For Hire" suggests both Woves and Reeves will play key roles in retaking Mandalore. There's no mention of Moff Gideon this week, though we can't forget the fact that a Mandalorian was responsible for him escaping the New Republic...could one of these characters first introduced in season 2 be the traitor?

Elsewhere in the episode, the villain responsible for those droid issues - you'll never believe who played him - is revealed to be a Separatist. Describing Count Dooku as a "visionary," he's cut off before he can say more, but this still serves as one of The Mandalorian's best Star Wars prequels Easter Eggs!
