THE MANDALORIAN Concept Art Reveals Unexpected Easter Egg And Explains Major Din Djarin Armor Change

Some new concept art from The Mandalorian season 2 reveals an unexpected Easter Egg for fans of the Disney+ series that actually explains a big change that was made to Din Djarin's iconic Beskar armour...

If those two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett focusing on Din Djarin were any indication, there's only one helmeted bounty hunter Star Wars fans really care about these days! Following those surprise guest appearances, Din's story will continue in The Mandalorian season 3 later this year, and some new concept art has just solved a big query fans have had about that series.

After his armour was badly damaged by the Mudhorn, Din got a brand new set made of Beskar...aside from on his thigh. The assumption among fans was the precious metal either hadn't been enough to completely outfit the bounty hunter or because the thigh piece was undamaged, there was no need to waste Beskar that could be used elsewhere by The Armorer.

Well, it served him well until a clash with Moff Gideon, but when season 2 of The Mandalorian rolled around, it had been mysteriously replaced. Thanks to concept artist Brian Matyas, we have an explanation. "Before Season 1 aired we were hard at work on designing season 2," he recalls. "This is one of the first designs I did, which was only supposed to showcase his new thigh armor from Q9-0 (Zero) bounty hunter droid from season 1."

Introduced in "The Prisoner," Zero was later seen in pieces on the Razor Crest. Clearly, Din made use of the murderous droid to replace his last piece of battered armour, though he won't get the chance to do so again. That droid, like the Razor Crest, was blown to smithereens by Moff Gideon!
