Jon Favreau is currently embarking on a worldwide press tour to promote The Mandalorian's upcoming third season and recently appeared in Madrid, Spain, for a Q&A about the Disney+ series.

Before taking charge of this corner of the Star Wars Universe, Favreau was perhaps best known for his work on the Iron Man franchise for Marvel Studios. After all, he was there right at the beginning of the MCU's creation, and the filmmaker confirms that seeing how it all came together has directly inspired his approach to storytelling in the "Mando-Verse."

"[The MCU] became incredibly more complex as time went on and all the way up to the Russo Brothers and the latest Avengers films," he says in the video below. "And what was interesting was that they could do chapters that were not in the specific storylines of the characters that would affect the characters."

"So like Captain Marvel being introduced, Black Panther...I learned a lot by watching how sophisticated the audiences were, and people are very quick to fill each other in," Favreau continues. "So I felt like I had the liberty to not spend all the time with those two characters apart in The Mandalorian and spend that time in The Book of Boba Fett as chapters that were as a novel where there were chapters that dealt with different characters."

However, for those of you who aren't hardcore Star Wars fans, Favreau says there will be recaps that help bring viewers up to speed (which will be particularly useful if you gave The Book of Boba Fett a miss).

Din Djarin and Grogu obviously reunited in that spin-off series, and the showrunner would go on to confirm that there's a time jump heading into season 3.

"Grogu has developed a lot and now time has even passed since The Book of Boba Fett and since he trained with Luke," Favreau teases, "so as you will see, his Force powers have gotten greater."

The Mandalorian returns to Disney+ on March 1.
