For a lot of Star Wars fans, this current third season of The Mandalorian has been a bit of a mixed bag, and for others, it's been a complete dud!
While some have been enjoying the continuing adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu, the general consensus seems to be that the show has suffered a significant dip in quality, with the writing, character development and overall direction of the season coming in for the most criticism.
Could the show's problems stem from differing opinions among those responsible for bringing it to the screen?
On the latest episode of The Hot Mic, insider Jeff Sneider says he's heard that showrunner/creator Jon Favreau and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy haven't been seeing eye-to-eye since season 2. Apparently, the Iron Man director was not happy about Kennedy insisting that Djarin and Grogu reunite during the events of The Book of Boba Fett, and wanted this third season to focus on the pair crossing paths again after a lengthier time apart.
Sneider has also been told that star Pedro Pascal is not having the best time in the lead role, and says he wouldn't be surprised if The Last of Us actor parts ways with the series after season 3, speculating that Djarin may even be killed-off in the season finale.
This isn't the first time we've heard this rumor, but it would make a certain amount of sense.
Pascal's character hasn't been seen without his helmet at all this season, and while this is very much in keeping with the main story, it's hard to shake the feeling that the whole Mandalore plotline wasn't the original plan and was somewhat hastily thrown together at the last minute.
Take all of this with the usual pinch of salt for now, but it's going to be very interesting to see how these last two season 3 episodes play out!
