Tomorrow's penultimate season 3 episode of The Mandalorian screened for those in attendance at Star Wars Celebration over the weekend, and thanks to the Heavy Spoilers YouTube show, we have details on what to expect.
Major spoilers from this point on.
Chapter 23, which is titled "The Spies," is said to take place predominantly on Mandalore, where Moff Gideon is hiding out. The villain is set to return with a vengeance, and will reportedly don a black beskar armor and will have some formidable back-up in the form of his very own Praetorian Guards.
Gideon will be taking orders from Brendol Hux (father of the sequel trilogy's General Hux) and the Shadow Council, who are planning something big.
Apparently, Din Djarin, Bo-Katan and her newly acquired fleet join forces with The Armourer and her people to take on the bad guys, and while they are victorious, there is a significant supporting character death, as Paz Viszla falls in battle (you can probably guess his final words).
Gideon's ultimate goal is to rebuild the Empire (as the First Order, presumably), and it's also said that we will finally learn what he's been up to with the cloning. Will we find out how, "somehow, Palpatine returned?" Possibly, but it sounds like things will be left somewhat ambiguous.
Oh, and Grand Admiral Thrawn also gets a mention!
The episode is said to conclude with a massive cliffhanger, with Djarin captured and taken to a briefing room, possibly to face the Shadow Council.
