The Mandalorian’s season 2 finale saw Din Djarin defeat Moff Gideon in combat, earning the Darksaber in the process. He’s now its rightful wielder, something we saw didn’t sit well with Bo-Kayan Kryze (who hoped to use the blade as a means of reuniting Mandalore’s people).
We never got to find out the manner in which they parted ways, but a newly released still from Empire shows Din and Grogu’s reunion with the warrior. It seems they’re allies for now, but will that last?
"What I love most about Season 3 is how much the world opens up in terms of Mandalore and Mandalorians," Pedro Pascal tells the magazine. "That means so many different facets of culture, politics, and rules and discoveries. Delicious doors are flying wide open."
Bo-Katan actress Kate Sackhoff adds, "[I was]texting Jon and Dave, ‘Are you serious?’ This is an epic season – it’s so big and so bold and so different. We know the family that she was born into; now what’s the family that she’s going to choose? What does that look like?"
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue in season 3. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the Galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito. The directors of the eight-episode season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Favreau is the showrunner/head writer and serves as an executive producer along with Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are co-executive producers.
The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on March 1.
