THE MANDALORIAN Season 4 Begins Production Later This Year; MASSIVE Update On Future Plans For Boba Fett

Following Jon Favreau's recent comments, it's been revealed that cameras will start rolling on The Mandalorian season 4 this Fall, while we have a major update on where things stand with The Book of Boba Fett!

Yesterday, Jon Favreau confirmed that he's already written the entirety of The Mandalorian's fourth season. Making Star Wars has since added to that by revealing filming is expected to begin this October, while they've also received some interesting intel from California's Manhattan Beach Studios.

Apparently, Moff Gideon's new Mandalorian armour, Stormtroopers that report specifically to the villain, and an updated jetpack for Din Djarin have all been made or are in the process of being created for season 4.

Here's where things get really interesting, though.

The site adds that The Book of Boba Fett season 2 may also be in pre-production as work is currently underway on building Slave-1's (sorry, the Firespray Gunship) cockpit and the former bounty hunter's armour. The site points out that this could be for The Mandalorian season 4, but it seems more likely that production on both shows will run simultaneously.

As for why all this preparation is already taking place, it's likely tied to the possible Writers Guild of America strike. That may well last most of the summer, so once the situation is inevitably resolved, it means The Mandalorian (and hopefully The Book of Boba Fett) will be ready to go in the Fall.

When it comes to how long it will be until we see the shows back on Disney+, we'd bet on late 2024/early 2025.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue in season 3. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the Galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito.

The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on March 1.
