Pedro Pascal has become one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood, with several big screen projects in the pipeline, in addition to his ongoing lead role in two massive TV shows.
A recent report indicated that Pascal's top priority was Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel, and this may have resulted in him being forced to drop out of the fourth season of The Mandalorian.
As you'll likely be aware if you're a fan of the Disney+ Star Wars series, Pascal's character, Din Djarin, wears a helmet for the majority of his screen-time. Pascal unmasked once in season 1, twice in season 2, but kept his face covered for every season 3 episode.
During an interview with Variety earlier this year, Pascal admitted that season 3 was "mostly a voice-over gig" for him.
"[T]he show was presented to me as The Mandalorian, and all of its, like, visual identity. At that point, there was so much experience for everyone involved in terms of authoring this character that it was able to become mostly a voice-over gig for Season 3, for the most part.”
Now, a rumor is doing the rounds which claims that Pascal will simply be too busy to set foot on the set of The Mandalorian, and while he is expected to record his lines as Djarin at some point, it will only happen after he wraps on Gladiator 2 and The Last of Us season 2.
Although Pascal was in the Mando suit on several occasions for season 3, viewers were never able to tell if it was him or body doubles Lateef Crowder or Brendan Wayne, so it shouldn't be any different during season 4. That said, there's been a lot of speculation that Djarin's role in the fourth season will be reduced, anyway, with Katte Sackhoff's Bo-Tatan Kryze stepping in as The Mandalorian of the title.
What do you make of this rumor? Do you think it will make a difference to fans if Pascal isn't physically portraying Din Djarin for the entirety of season 4? Drop us a comment down below.
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
