THE MANDALORIAN Star Pedro Pascal Opens Up On Sharing The Spotlight With Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan In Season 3

We first met Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze in The Clone Wars, and when the character finally made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2, it was cause for celebration among Star Wars fans.

Bo-Katan returned in the Disney+ series' third season and actually received more of the spotlight than Din Djarin at times. Ultimately, the Darksaber ended up back in her possession, a move which disappointed those who had hoped the title bounty hunter might eventually emerge as Mandalore's ruler.

During a recent interview with Variety, Pedro Pascal - who only lends his voice to the character these rather than ever suiting up on set - weighed in on seeing the focus shift to Bo-Katan in the latest batch of episodes.

"I think it was great in that it also brings into full realization a beloved character that is from the world of Dave Filoni. Din Djarin is a creation that combines the worlds of Star Wars, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni. And we introduced [Din] through The Mandalorian."

From there, we were able to create opportunities for pulling references and live-action characters from Dave Filoni’s beloved animated series [and put them into The Mandalorian]," the actor continues. "Everyone gets to experience the excitement of [Bo-Katan] being introduced. And she’s a badass. And it’s perfect casting. And I am a big Battlestar Galactica fanboy."

"I just think it was perfect that we get to meet and see the character and she gets to do cool shit in the second season. And then, she gets to take center stage in the third. It’s what I would want for the character and as a fan of The Clone Wars."

For the most part, Bo-Katan's expanded role was embraced by fans and there are now those hoping she might take centre stage in an eventual spin-off. As for Din and Grogu, the way season 3 ended set the stage for them to get back to going on adventures without necessarily being tied to the wider Star Wars Universe.
