Rosario Dawson's live-action debut as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian's second season was a huge moment and one that came in an episode full of jaw-dropping reveals.
Among them was the fact The Child's name is really Grogu, though the biggest shocker was saved for last. When Ahsoka squared off with the mysterious Magistrate, it was revealed that the villain served Thrawn, the Grand Admiral from the Expanded Universe brought into canon by Lars Mikkelsen in Star Wars Rebels.
We've since found out that the animated TV show's cliffhanger ending will be tackled head-on in Ahsoka, with Diana Lee Inosanto's Morgan Elsbeth expected to be one of Thrawn's key allies there. In fact, she's as determined to find him as Ahsoka is to track down her friend and fellow Jedi Ezra Bridger.
"When I found out that they were going expand her character, I was just over the moon about this," Inosanto tells Entertainment Weekly of her upcoming return. "I just couldn't believe how the planets and the stars aligned. And to be able to work with such a magnificent cast and to grow as an actress and feel that energy, it's a dream come true."
As for what we can expect from the Magistrate when in Ahsoka, the actress notes, "The beautiful thing was, Dave was always there to assist me on what her backstory is. She's quite the manipulator, and we all know she's cold-hearted, but this is a character that is truly dedicated and loyal to Grand Admiral Thrawn. And there's nothing getting in her way."
"What I really love is that we are going to get into her backstory," Inosanto teased. "I'm just thrilled and excited, and I think the fans are going be quite fascinated and pretty happy about this."
Based on previous plot leaks, Elsbeth may even be the one leading the hunt for Thrawn. She'll eventually find him, though what's become of the Chiss warrior also known as Mitth'raw'nuruodo in the years since he vanished alongside Ezra remains to be seen.
Ahsoka is expected to premiere on Disney+ on August 31.
