Fortnite's massive Star Wars collaboration expanded today with the inclusion of a new game mode that allows players to get a sneak peek at the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu.

With the movie hitting theaters in just a few days, players can hop into "The Mandalorian and Grogu" Watch Party Island, which went live on Tuesday, and watch the first 10 minutes of the film before its release on May 22.

While the sneak peek is clearly the incentive here, the island also features activities and missions to participate in. Up to 12 players can join forces in the game mode, working together to protect the city from invading Imperial troops.

Players step into the role of a newly recruited deputy as Nevarro comes under siege, tasked to complete various quests around the planet. This includes battling alongside bounty hunter droid IG-11 and other familiar faces. You'll also be able to spend time with Grogu and complete small side quests.

Explore Nevarro with your friends as a recruited Deputy Marshal while you complete quests and stand together to defend the city's fledgling future from Imperial troops, bounty hunters, and more!

On May 26, The Mandalorian and Grogu director Jon Favreau will appear in the island's amphitheater for a Q&A with fans.

In a statement, Favreau told Variety what went into the creation of the new map in Fortnite, explaining:

On ‘The Mandalorian’, everything comes back to detail… materials, lighting, sound. They’re what make the world feel real. Our team at Fairview Portals brought those elements together with Lucasfilm and Epic in Fortnite to recreate the tone and texture of that world, inviting players to a new way to step into it.”

“‘Star Wars’ endures because it inspires imagination across generations," added James Waugh, senior vice president of franchise content and strategy at Lucasfilm. "Bringing that spirit into Fortnite creates new ways for fans to explore their own creativity, building and sharing experiences that reflect what the galaxy means to them and how they connect with it.”

“Bringing ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ into Fortnite goes way beyond a traditional collaboration," said Matthew Horsman, head of studio at Beyond Creative. "As you watch the first look, pay attention to how Nevarro comes to life as a place you can play, explore and share with others.”

"The Mandalorian and Grogu" Watch Party Island is the latest addition to a massive collaboration between Epic Games and Disney. Over the past few weeks, multiple Star Wars-inspired islands have been created in Fortnite, featuring characters, vehicles, and weapons from the galaxy far, far away. Some of the popular game modes include “Galactic Siege,” “Droid Tycoon,” and “Escape Vader."

The Mandalorian and Grogu is slated to hit theaters this week on May 22. It marks the first Star Wars movie to be release on the big screen since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, and right now it doesn't seem like critics are impressed. As of right now, the movie sits at an underwhelming 60% on Rotten Tomatoes.
