Doctor Who and Kidulthood star Noel Clarke has been charged with multiple sexual offences following a Metropolitan Police investigation.

The UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed on Wednesday that prosecutors had authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge the 50-year-old actor, writer, producer and director.

Clarke, who lives in Kensington, west London, faces two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure. The charges relate to five women and concern alleged offences said to have taken place between 2007 and 2016. The actor has not publicly commented on the charges, but previously denied any wrongdoing when accusations first surfaced.

According to the CPS, prosecutors reviewed a file of evidence submitted by detectives before determining that there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed and that prosecution was in the public interest.

"Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so," the CPS said in a statement.

The Metropolitan Police investigation began a year ago, with a man who was then in his 40s first arrested in connection with the case on September 25, 2025. Following the investigation, detectives submitted their evidence to the CPS, which subsequently authorised the charges against Clarke. He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on October 21.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, whose team is overseeing the investigation, said the women connected to the charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

"The women connected to these charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers," Cagney said. "We urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to contact police. The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity and we have trained investigators on hand to support you."

Clarke became widely known to genre fans through his role as Mickey Smith in Doctor Who, debuting alongside Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor before continuing opposite David Tennant's Tenth Doctor. He appeared in the BBC series between 2005 and 2010. It was previously alleged that the actor touched women inappropriately or made sexual remarks while working on the sci-fi series.

Away from Doctor Who, Clarke established himself as a filmmaker as well as an actor, with credits including Kidulthood, Adulthood, and Brotherhood. He has also worked extensively behind the camera as a writer, producer and director.

The charges against Clarke are allegations, and he has not yet publicly responded to the case. His appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court will be the next stage in the proceedings, and if he is ultimately found guilty, then the actor is likely facing serious prison time.
