Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor will be the final episode starring Jodie Whittaker as the titular time-traveller.
The "Centenary Special," as it was referred to before its official title was revealed, will also feature the return of Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan and John Bishop as Dan Lewis, the Doctor's companions, as well as Sacha Dhawan as the nefarious Master and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart.
What's more, the episode will feature a plethora of other antagonists such as the Daleks and Cybermen as well as some classic companions. Sophie Aldred reprises the role of Ace, who served as the seventh Doctor's sidekick, and Janet Fielding returns as Tegan, who was a companion of the fifth Doctor's.
Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor will be the last episode for the current era of the series led by showrunner Chris Chibnall, before the return of David Tennant as the Doctor and Russell T. Davies as showrunner for a number of special episodes for the show's 60th anniversary in 2023.
At the moment, it's unclear whether Whittaker's Doctor will be regenerating into Tennant or newcomer Ncuti Gatwa (who was announced as the fourteenth Doctor back in May) at the end of the upcoming episode, which certainly adds a new level of intrigue.
With only weeks left to go until the episode airs on October 23rd, a full-length trailer for Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor has been released by the BBC as well as a some new images, one of which appears to depict the thirteenth Doctor's final moments.
