Apple TV+ has released the first For All Mankind season 4 trailer. The series, which explores an alternate history where Russia put the first astronaut on the moon and America remained in the Space Race has jumped from decade to decade, eventually shifting focus to reaching Mars.

After decades of pushing the boundaries of exploration, man has created a self-sustaining Mars colony...but where do we go from there? Now, as the series enters its final season, this sneak peek reveals that the race is on to mine an asteroid which could change the future of Earth and Mars alike.

The action has shifted to 2003 and it seems the stage is being set for this alternate history to show just how far the world could have come had space travel remained a priority after the first moon landing. As well as exploring an alternate timeline, For All Mankind has delivered a compelling exploration of its lead characters.

Heading into season 4, we're definitely curious to learn what became of Danny Stevens after he was imprisoned in an abandoned North Korean spaceship for his role in the death of his fellow astronauts. Based on the trailer, though, the new additions to the series will also have a big role to play as this story nears its end.

"Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since Season 3," reads the synopsis, "Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners."

"Now 2003, the focus of the space program has turned to the capture and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working towards."

The ensemble cast returning for season 4 includes Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, and Coral Peña along with new series regulars Toby Kebbell, Tyner Rushing, Daniel Stern, and Svetlana Efremova.

For All Mankind was created by Emmy Award winner Moore, and Emmy nominees Nedivi and Wolpert. Nedivi and Wolpert serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein.

The series returns to Apple TV+ on November 10.
