The seventh season of Rick and Morty will finally have a premiere date confirmed next week, according to a fresh teaser trailer.
The announcement comes at a time when opinions among fans of the Emmy-winning program appear to be divided.
This is due to the fact that Adult Swim decided in January 2023 that it would "end its association" with series co-creator Justin Roiland as a result of allegations of domestic violence that allegedly took place three years prior, in 2020.
Ultimately, the Orange County district attorney's office would go on to announce that there was insufficient evidence to establish the case beyond a reasonable doubt, and that all charges against Roiland would be dropped.
Since then, fans of Rick and Morty were clamoring for Adult Swim to bring Roilland back but it looks as if the show will be soldiering on without its co-creator, at least for season 7. Despite the charges being dropped, there were reports of a number of unsavory workplace incidents and online comments by Roiland that surfaced alongside the domestic abuse allegations.
Season 7 of Rick and Morty previously announced a fall premiere, but it looks like next week will see Adult Swim provide fans with an exact date.
Hulu also dropped Roiland from Solar Opposites, another show he co-created.
Rick and Morty is the Emmy award-winning half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.
