With filmmaker Kevin Smith at the helm, Masters of the Universe: Revelation delivered a fresh spin on the He-Man franchise. It's an approach the vast majority of fans appreciated, and we've known for a while that it will return to Netflix with a second season titled Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
However, the follow-up is undergoing at least one major change as Supergirl star Melissa Benoist is taking over the role of Teela from Buffy The Vampire Slayer alum Sarah Michelle Gellar.
One of the franchise's most beloved characters, Teela was central to the show's first season and we followed the hero as she attempted to better understand the secrets surrounding the coveted Sword of Power. There's no word on what's led to this casting change, but we certainly can't complain about the former Girl of Steel joining the franchise.
"I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend, Kevin Smith and join the 'Revolution' family as another bold and fearless heroine," Benoist said today. "I look forward to sharing the next evolution of Teela's story with fans."

It's technology up against magic as He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and a deadly threat to the Planet in the next epic chapter in the battle for Eternia.
Chris Wood voices He-Man and Star Wars legend Mark Hamill plays Skeletor. Star Trek icon William Shatner has boarded the series in a mystery role ahead of its expected return to Netflix sometime in 2024.
