We first learned of Legendary's plans to bring the King of Monsters to streaming in 2022 and, later this year, Apple TV+ will finally unleash Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

While there have been rumblings that the show might be pushed to 2024 as a result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, a piece in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine suggests the series will premiere this November. We're not taking this as confirmation but it does sound promising.

Also of note is confirmation Godzilla will be joined in the series by old and new Titans alike, suggesting that iconic kaiju won't be the show's primary focus. It may also go some way in explaining why the beast's name is absent from the title!

Monarch, of course, is the S.H.I.E.L.D.-like organisation tasked with keeping track of the world's Titans; they previously appeared in GodzillaKong: Skull IslandGodzilla: King of the MonstersGodzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

You can read the full piece on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in the Tweet below.

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real," the synopsis for the 10-episode series reads, "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch."

"Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Mari Yamamoto, Ren Watabe, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Developed by Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), the first two episodes were helmed by WandaVision and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman.

Keep checking back here for updates on the series as we have them.

I didn’t know this show was coming out so soon. I thought it was gonna be like 2024. I’m not even sure if I’m gonna watch it. It’s on Apple TV which I have not subscribed to.
