THE LAST OF US: Joel & Ellie Head To Kansas City In The New Promo For Episode 4: "Please Hold My Hand"

Following the most emotional episode of the season, next week's installment will see Joel and Ellie continue their journey and run into some unexpected complications when a new threat emerges...

Tonight's installment of The Last of Us was undoubtedly its most emotional hour yet as we got to know Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) and learn about what they'd gone through over the course of their nearly twenty-year relationship.

While the game only hinted at their potential love story, the series confirmed what many had assumed for years, as game creator and co-showrunner Neil Druckmanm was finally able to expand on one of the game's unspoken mysteries. He tells The Hollywood Reporter, “How much we deviate [from the game] has to be proportional to how good it is. Frank was mentioned [in the game] but offhandedly. Here we get to kind of explore this relationship and obviously make some changes. And [the idea] was so good, I didn’t mind that it was different.”

Now, moving on to next week, it's hard to tell exactly what Druckmann and co-showrunner Craig Mazin have in store for us, but the episode will see Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) pass through Kansas City, where they'll run into some unexpected trouble when they cross paths with Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey), who is an original character made exclusively for the series.

Check out the new preview for season one, episode four:

Plus, check out the featurette for episode three:

The Last of Us features Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, Elaine Miles as Florence, and Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.

THE LAST OF US story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
