Jurassic World: Dominion, the final chapter of the franchise's second trilogy, arrives in theaters today. For now, the only way to watch this blockbuster conclusion is to go to a theater. But with a franchise low 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, you may choose to sit this one out and instead wait to catch it on a streaming service. But when will Jurassic World: Dominion start streaming?
Unfortunately, there is no digital or VOD release date for Jurassic World: Dominion, so we don't have an exact date for when you'll be able to stream the blockbuster movie. But the general consensus, based on previous Universal movies, is that it will be available to rent or purchase on various video-on-demand platforms, such as Prime Video, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu, about 45 days after its theatrical debut — so possibly mid-to-late July 2022.
For those who don't want to purchase or rent the movie, your other option is to stream it on Peacock. In response to viewer trends brought on by the pandemic and a shift in the theatrical/streaming market, Universal opted to send all movies to Peacock no later than four months after they open in theaters. While there's no official streaming date, we do know that Jurassic World: Dominion wlil arrive on Peacock no later than four months from today, so sometime around or before October 10.
It's also worth pointing out that Universal carved up the 18 month pay-one window as to license its content across a variety of platforms. In this case, following its initial four-month run on Peacock, Jurassic World: Dominion wlil move to Prime Video for 10 months. It wlil then return to Peacock for the final fourth months of the agreement. Once the deal comes to an end, the movie will move to the Starz platform as part of Universal's post Pay-One licensing agreement with the network.
It's all very confusing, but that's the state of movies and streaming these days. Do you plan on watching Jurassic World: Dominion in theaters or are you going to wait for streaming? Perhaps our review of the film will help you make up your mind.
