Titan Comics is putting Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning Vol. 1 on sale September 29, 2026. The book collects the four-issue miniseries that started on December 3, 2025 and finished with issue 4 on May 20, 2026.
The collected edition is a 112-page softcover. It costs $17.99 in the United States and $23.99 in Canada. The UK listing is £14.99. Titan Comics rates it for readers ages 15 and up. Some retailer listings have also carried a mid-September on-sale window, but Titan’s own date for the volume is September 29, so we will go with that date. Digital editions are listed for Kindle and other storefronts. No hardcover is attached to this release.
George Mann wrote it. Maan House drew it. Titan bills Mann as a Sunday Times bestselling novelist and scriptwriter. His other licensed work includes Star Wars, Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Judge Dredd, Warhammer 40,000, and earlier Dark Souls comics. He also created the Wychwood novels. House came over from Dark Souls: The Willow King and has Bloodborne comics on the resume. Penguin Random House’s listing calls them a Scribe Award-nominated pair.
The story follows the Knights of Mourning. Titan’s official copy says hope is a fleeting feeling for the order, and that they are betting everything on a last chance at salvation. They go looking for a hero who can rekindle the flame and turn to the Mother of Lillies, a soulless mummified saint said to restore balance to the world. The knights believe her lost soul will resurrect her and deliver a champion. The solicitation also warns that madness is already in their heads, and that the thing they want may not be what it first seemed.
A Grimdark Magazine review of the early issues filled in a few more names without turning the book into a game walkthrough. The Knights are tasked with safeguarding the relic-corpse of the Mother of Lilies. Her soul was stolen long ago. As the Age of Fire fades, the order fades with it. The review quotes the comic describing the Grand Order withering "like rotting fruit that still holds to a long-dead vine." The protagonist sent after the lost soul is Lucadeus, traveling with a small group of allies. The same review noted that the series had not, at that point, dropped in famous game locations or characters. It is set in the same kind of dying Age of Fire, just not a tour of Lordran.
September has a second Dark Souls Franchise print coming out as well. Yen Press publishes Dark Souls: Redemption Vol. 3 on September 22. That manga is written by Julien Blondel with art by Shonen. Volume 1 was subtitled Humanity Lost. Volume 2 was Bonfire. Volume 3’s paperback is listed around 192 to 208 pages, Older Teen, with a $15 print price and a cheaper digital edition. Yen Press’ copy follows a guardian, a keeper, and a hunter after their alliance starts to come apart. That book is a different story from a different publisher. It just lands a week before Titan’s collection.
This is not Titan’s first go at a Dark Souls comic. The line started in 2016 with Dark Souls: The Breath of Andolus, also written by Mann, with art by Alan Quah. That four-issue series later got its own trade. Titan followed it with The Age of Fire, drawn by Anton Kokarev, which went back toward the legends of Gwyn and Artorias through Silver Knight Arkon. Legends of the Flame collected more short stories. The Willow King arrived in 2024 from Mann and House, about King Ustrad of Uthrel refusing to link the flame and the unkindled Herad trying to finish the job. Mother of Mourning is the next original miniseries in that Titan catalog, not a reprint of those older books.
