Eddie Murphy inadvertently makes a deal with an elf to win his neighborhood association's Christmas decoration contest, and the consequences are of epic proportions in Candy Cane Lane. The Prime Video fantasy adventure series will drop this December, just in time for the holiday season. Check out the new trailer below.
As part of the deal that Eddie Murphy's Chris makes with Jillian Bell's Pepper, the 12 Days of Christmas come to life. So expect to see a comical twist on ten leaping lords, four calling birds, and the rest of the classic Christmas carol.
Murphy is reuniting with director Reginald Hudlin (House Party) for the film, who directed the comedian's breakout film role in Boomerang.
Kelly Younger (Muppets Haunted Mansion) penned the script.
In addition to Murphy (You People), the film also stars Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) as Carol and Bell (Murder Mystery 2) as Pepper the elf.
Also appearing in supporting roles are Thaddeus J. Mixson (Creed III), Ken Marino (Veronica Mars, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, Fargo), Robin Thede (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live), social media star D.C. Youngfly, Genneya Walton (Black AF), and Madison Thomas (9-1-1).
The film continues Murphy's late-career resurgence after a string of box office flops in the early 2000s. Dolemite is My Name and Coming 2 America were both well-received projects, as was 2023's You People. Before the SAG-AFTRA strike commenced, he was entrenched in developing a fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop film franchise.
Candy Cane Lane premieres in the U.S. and around the world on Prime Video on December 1, 2023. Do you plan on watching the fantasy comedy when it hits the streaming platform? Let us know in the comment section below.
