"Have you ever imagined yourself on the Iron Throne?"

With King Viserys (Paddy Considine) dead, it's nearly time for the Dance of the Dragons to begin, and it looks like next week's episode will finally see Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) make her fateful decision that will kickstart the long-awaited Targaryen Civil War and essentially damn everyone involved.

As the promo reveals, we'll see her make an executive decision - with her father Otto (Rhys Ifans) and Criston Cole's (Fabien Frankel) backing - to place her eldest son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the Iron Throne, under the false pretense that it was Viserys last wish.

We won't get into spoilers on what happens in the immediate aftermath, but we will say that Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy), who is away on Dragonstone expecting the birth of her sixth child, and Daemon (Matt Smith) are going to be less than thrilled when the learn of the treacherous news. So, gear up everyone, it's time for war!

Check out the new preview for episode nine, titled "The Green Council," below:
