It was confirmed earler today (via GameFragger.com) that God of War Ragnarök is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 9, 2022. This is news we've been waiting on for a very long time, and it's accompanied by a new "Father and Son" CG trailer that offers a glimpse at the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches.
We anticipate seeing a lot more from this game over the coming weeks and months, but a brief synopsis teases: "Join Kratos and Atreus on a mythic journey for answers before the prophesied battle that will end the world. All the while, the eyes of Asgard watch their every move..."
So, it doesn't give much away, especially as we've known Ragnarök is coming since God of War ended with a big tease of where the story goes next.
Pre-orders for God of War Ragnarök open July 15, 2022 at 10.00am Local Time, and special Collector's and Jötnar Editions have already been unveiled by Sony. There are also a number of pre-order bonuses that should definitely give fans of this franchise a reason to try and get their hands on this sequel as soon as possible.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Amazon Prime Video is in talks with Sony to develop a live-action God of War TV series, so this franchise's future is looking very bright indeed. The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are producing the show alongside The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins, so we're hoping for more news on that in the not too distant future too.
