HARRY POTTER Fans Are Not Happy About HBO Max Reboot News Or J.K. Rowling's Involvement

We recently learned that a new Harry Potter HBO Max series is in development, but rather than continue the story or focus on an entirely different set of characters, the show will serve as a full reboot of the popular movies.

Though nothing has been officially announced, the project is expected to re-adapt the source novels, with each season dedicated to one of the seven books.

Though author J.K. Rowling will most likely not be involved as showrunner, she will be on hand to “ensure it remains loyal to her original material.”

Some fans seem to be willing to give it a shot, but it's probably safe to say the majority of Potter aficionados feel this is one of the worst ideas they've ever heard.

Social media lit-up after the announcement, with some asking what's the point of retelling the same story as the films (money... the answer is always money), and others simply outraged that Rowling - who has become a massively controversial figure due to he perceived anti-trans stance - has been brought on board.

You can check out just a handful of the reactions below.

There is nothing more annoying than a butthurt 20 something who is mad that the person who wrote their favourite make believe stories doesn't believe that their make believe stories are real.

There is nothing I hate more than a "news article" that references the opinions of a bunch of nobodies on social media and attempts to pass that off as some sort of informed commentary.
