We've seen a noteworthy decline in headline stories about Snow White in recent weeks, something we're sure Disney is grateful for after its plans for the movie started coming under attack. Now, thanks to Toonado.com, we have some newly surfaced merchandise which reveals a first look at the costume Rachel Zegler's Disney Princess will wear on screen.
It's definitely accurate to the original cartoon, though that doesn't come as a surprise after it was previously spotted in set photos. As for Gal Gadot's Evil Queen, we have just a tantalising sneak peek of what she'll look like in the reboot.
We'd anticipated Disney's live-action Snow White movie being another potentially very good remake from the studio, but little could any of us have known it would end up being so massively divisive.
From the decision to scrap the Seven Dwarfs to resurfaced comments from lead star Rachel Zegler in which the Shazam! Fury of the Gods star compared Prince Florian to a "stalker," there's not a lot of goodwill for the movie right now.
While there are those who are hating on Snow White very much for the sake of it (and, disgustingly, because Zegler is Latina), it's also easy enough to understand why some fans of the 1937 animated classic aren't looking forward to the reboot.
While the movie is currently scheduled for March 22, 2024, it was recently reported that it will "almost certainly move off that date."
Given the largely negative reaction to this latest take on the iconic fairy tale, there's a good chance Disney is planning reshoots. Either way, the recent news that Dune: Part Two has shifted from November 3 to March 15 could also be a major contributing factor.
Not much has actually been revealed about director Marc Webb's (The Amazing Spider-Man) Snow White plans, though we know the screenplay was written by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and playwright Erin Cressida Wilson.
In terms of cast, the movie stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan. We're not expecting an overly faithful adaptation of the cartoon, hence why many familiar names are missing from that list.
