About Percy Jackson & the Olympians
The Percy Jackson & the Olympians series is a popular set of five fantasy adventure novels written by Rick Riordan. The story follows Percy Jackson, a young boy who discovers he is the son of Poseidon, a demigod. It takes place in a modern world where Greek gods exist and interact with humans.
Rick Riordan, a former middle school teacher, created the series using Greek mythology as inspiration. He aimed to create a story that would interest his students, particularly those with learning differences, like his own son.
The first book, "The Lightning Thief", was published in 2005, followed by "The Sea of Monsters" in 2006, "The Titan's Curse" in 2007, "The Battle of the Labyrinth" in 2008, and "The Last Olympian" in 2009.
The Percy Jackson series has gone beyond books and has been adapted into various forms of media and merchandise, including movies, graphic novels, a musical, and spin-off series.
"The Lightning Thief" and "The Sea of Monsters" were adapted into movies in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
"The Lightning Thief" was also adapted into a musical, which debuted in New York in 2014, and has since toured the United States.
Rick Riordan has also expanded the Percy Jackson universe with additional books, including "The Heroes of Olympus, " "The Trials of Apollo, " and "Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, " which explore other mythologies and connect to the original series.
