Comic-Con is underway in San Diego, and a new photo taken on the show floor reveals an official look at the three lead characters in Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
While we've previously seen this trio in some behind-the-scenes snaps, this is the first time Aryan Simhadri's Grover, Walker Scobell's Percy Jackson, and Leah Jeffries' Annabeth have been shown in character.
Very little is revealed beyond what they'll be wearing, though we're sure this latest sneak peek will make fans of Rick Riordan's books happy. The movies were widely considered a disappointment, so the hope is that this small screen adaptation will do right by Percy and his friends.
Shooting on season 1 wrapped up long before the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, meaning Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now in post-production. We're getting a total of eight episodes adapting the events of The Lightning Thief, and it's possible more from the series will be revealed during this Comic-Con weekend.
Riordan has previously revealed that there have already been season 2 discussions, though cautioned at the time it hasn't been officially green-lit...yet. If it ever reached the writing stage, we'd assume work has now been paused seeing as the WGA is also striking.
Based on Disney Hyperion's best-selling book series, the series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.
With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians also stars Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Timm Sharp, Olivea Morton, Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, and WWE Superstar Edge.
The series is still expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
