After being teased in Rick and Morty season 7 promo material, it looks like Rick Prime might finally be making his long-awaited return 5 episodes into the new season.

The Emmy-winning adult animation series, Adult Swim, has released a preview for its upcoming fifth episode, "Unmortricken," and viewers have noticed that Rick Prime's drones are prominently featured.  Another clue is that Rift Travel is also included in the trailer.

Inevitably some fans are certain that Adult Swim is using the teaser to trick viewers—something they have done in the past with regard to lore episodes.

With some serialized aspects, Rick and Morty is mostly an episodic, animated sitcom that airs on weekends. Although each episode usually offers a stand-alone tale, there are underlying storylines that cut over several seasons and episodes. While the episodic format maintains the humor and variety that make the show unique, the serialized elements give the characters and the plot a sense of depth and coherence.

You can make up your own mind after viewing the promo below.  Unmortricken will air on Sunday at 11 PM on Adult Swim.

Presently, there seems to be disagreement among Rick and Morty fans on whether to keep watching the Emmy-winning program and that's definitely been reflected in the ratings.

So far in season 7, not a single episode has amassed more than 500,000 views. Comparatively, just one episode of season 6 fell below this threshold, whilst the previous seasons consistently registered ratings above one million viewers, routinely posting ratings that were closer to two million or higher.

Adult Swim declared in January 2023 that it had "ended its association" with co-creator of the show Justin Roiland in the wake of allegations of domestic violence that were purported to have happened in 2020.

But in March 2023, the district attorney's office in Orange County announced that there was insufficient evidence to establish the case beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the dismissal of the charges.

Since then, Rick and Morty viewers have been pleading with Adult Swim to reinstate Roilland, but it seems like the program will move forward without its co-creator. Though the accusations of domestic violence were dismissed, other reports of shady workplace behavior by Roiland began to surface.

Rick and Morty Synopsis: Rick and Morty is the Emmy award-winning half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.
