Netflix kicked off Tudum 2025 with a bang, revealing the trailer and release date for Squid Game Season 3.
The third and final season of the dystopian survival thriller will premiere on June 27th, marking an end to the incredible thriller that began in 2021.Or rather, the end of Gi-hun's particular story as the show's popularity will almost certainly result in additional spin-offs.
The trailer begins with the players entering a room with Young-hee, the iconic animatronic doll that I'm sure you all remember from the "Red Light, Green Light" game. The red and green lights are back, only this time in the form of a train track. Based on the brief glimpses we see, it looks like the game will revolve around jump rope.
The trailer didn't show us Chul-su, the male animatronic doll briefly teased in the post-credits scene, but actor Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-Hu / Player 456) teased that the doll probably won't be bringing any joy to the games.
Beyond that, the trailer is filled with quick cuts that tease some intense moments in what will surely be a thrilling and dramatic final season.
Every game must come to an end.

“The new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail,” series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told Tudum. “He is in utter despair after losing everything and watching all his efforts go in vain,” Hwang explains. “The story then takes an interesting turn, questioning whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values of humanity — like conscience and kindness — can exist in the arena.”
The upcoming finale episodes pick up directly after the stunning Season 2 finale, which saw Gi-hun's rebellion fall short, resulting in the death of many of his allies and friends. In the trailer, he asks the Front Man why he was left alive, and the end of the trailer seems to suggest that there may be bigger plans for Player 456.
“In Season 2, dramatic narratives centered on various characters, setting the stage for Season 3, when these stories reach their climax, and culminate in an explosion of dramatic intensity,” teased Front Man actor Lee Byung-hun.
Although Season 3 of Squid Game will serve as the conclusion of Gi-hun's story arc with the games, the franchise will likely continue to live through spin-offs. Earlier this year, series creator, writer, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk hinted that Netflix "has a plan" to continue the franchise, although he's not sure if he will be involved in any future projects.
