As promised, Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher season 3, and it offers an exciting look ahead to Henry Cavill's final batch of episodes playing Geralt of Rivia.

The actor announced his departure from the show last year shortly before his return as Superman in Black Adam. Unfortunately, that ended with him being ousted from the DCEU ahead of DC Studios' planned DCU reboot, leaving Cavill without a franchise that's built around him.

He's supposedly been unhappy with The Witcher's creative direction for some time, of course, though we're hoping season 3 gives him the chance to go out on a high before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role. He'll play Geralt in season 4 and potentially season 5, with the latter rumoured to be the end for the series.

Cavill takes centre stage in this teaser, anyway, as do Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. Keep your eyes peeled, however, and you'll notice new shots of the Wild Hunt and Rience among other mysterious villains.

"As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it," reads the official plot synopsis for The Witcher season 3.

"Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery."

It's also been confirmed today that The Witcher is coming to Netflix in two parts with the first five episodes set to premiere on June 29. The next three will then follow on July 27.
