LEGO has officially unveiled its latest addition to the Lord of the Rings lineup, and it's one that fans of the Shire will be especially excited for. The new set, aptly titled The Shire, is a detailed, over 2,000-piece recreation of Bag End, Bilbo Baggins’ cozy hobbit home. It arrives alongside a charming new LEGO mini-movie that pays tribute to the cinematic brilliance of Peter Jackson’s iconic film trilogy.

The LEGO mini-movie, which premiered to accompany the set reveal, brings fans right back to Middle-earth. Narrated by none other than Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), the short film blends heartfelt nostalgia with LEGO’s signature brand of humor. It even features a reimagining of the emotional Osgiliath monologue from The Two Towers, performed by animated LEGO versions of beloved characters like Gandalf, Frodo, and, of course, Sam. Watch it down below:

Astin, reflecting on the experience of lending his voice to the project, shared, “When I was driving home from the commercial shoot, I was just sort of thinking, why was that so much fun? Why was it so much fun to play?” Clearly, the love for Tolkien’s world hasn’t faded, and this collaboration with LEGO has only rekindled the magic.

As for the set itself, The Shire (set number 10354) is nothing short of impressive. It includes 2,017 pieces and features a lovingly crafted version of Bag End, complete with Bilbo’s round green door, richly detailed interior, Gandalf’s horse and cart, the iconic dragon fireworks, and the Party Tree. The minifigure lineup features Gandalf, Bilbo Baggins, and Samwise Gamgee, and even includes Bilbo’s red book, which can be displayed open or closed.

This is the third major Lord of the Rings set from LEGO, joining previous releases such as Barad-dûr and Rivendell. While those sets leaned toward epic grandeur, The Shire offers a warm, inviting homage to the simpler side of Middle-earth.

The Shire will be available starting April 2 for LEGO Insiders and opens to the general public on April 5. The set is priced at $269.99 USD / £229.99 GBP / $399.99 AUD. As a bonus, fans who purchase the set between April 2–8 will receive a limited gift-with-purchase: the Lord of the Rings: Sméagol & Déagol mini-build (set 40761), while supplies last.

With its heartfelt storytelling and intricate design, The Shire promises to be a must-have for fans of Tolkien’s work, and for anyone who dreams of escaping to a peaceful hobbit-hole in the hills.
