Body-horror maestro David Cronenberg's upcoming sci-fi flick Crimes of the Future is said to be one of the most disturbing films of the past few years, and its reputation is reflected in this new poster.

With a tagline like "surgery is the new sex," we can only imagine what lies in store for cinemagoers, but hardcore fans of the notorious filmmaker are no doubt salivating at the prospect of the violent delights that await them.

Check out the new poster below, and be sure to drop back tomorrow for the second trailer.

The film is set "in a distant future where humans have evolved beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, altering their biological makeup. In this setting, a performance artist named Saul Tenser embraces Accelerated Evolution Syndrome, sprouting new and unexpected organs in his body. Removing those organs becomes a new kind of theater, one that earns a following, as well as the attention of the government."

It really doesn't get any more Cronenbergian than that!

Viggo Mortensen will re-team with Cronenberg after starring in A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method. He'll be joined by Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux, Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar and Lihi Kornowski.
