FURIOSA Set Photos Show Star Anya Taylor-Joy Looking UNRECOGNIZABLE In The MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Prequel

The first photos of Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants) in Furiosa have found their way online, and the actor looks totally unrecognisable as the character first played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.

A few weeks ago, we got a first look at Chris Hemsworth on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa. The Thor: Love and Thunder star had been completely transformed, but he's not the movie's only actor to look damn near unrecognisable on the set of George Miller's latest addition to this franchise.

Furiosa's lead, Anya Taylor-Joy, has finally been spotted on set and has ditched her trademark platinum locks for a bedraggled, brunette new look.

Covered in what appears to be mud (or blood), Furiosa is clearly more than a little worse for wear here and these scenes obviously take place after she lost her arm. Taylor-Joy can be seen wearing a green glove that will later be transformed into the character's prosthetic with visual effects, and it's previously been established that the character lost her limb in battle for Immortan Joe.

The actor has also previously talked about wanting to shave her head as Charlize Theron did in Mad Max: Fury Road, but that's something we don't expect to necessarily see happen until nearer the end of the movie (if at all).

"The thing that makes me most excited about Furiosa is, number one, George Miller," Taylor-Joy said in an interview earlier this year. "That brain is incredible. I'm also really excited to do something physical. To physically become something else is something that will weirdly give me a lot of peace."

We can't wait for an official first look at Furiosa, but that could be a while off given that the movie is a little under two years away. For now, the full gallery of set photos can be seen at Mail Online.

"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus," reads the movie's synopsis. "Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

Cameras are obviously now rolling on Furiosa, and it's currently set to be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
