20th Century Studios debuted the first full trailer for upcoming Predator prequel, Prey, yesterday, and we now have a 30-second TV spot for the upcoming Hulu Original movie featuring quite a bit of new footage.
The teaser includes some new shots of Naru (Amber Midthunder) and her tribe as they prepare to track the ruthless alien hunter, and we also get another glimpse of the Predator as he stands at the entrance to a cave.
During an interview with /Film, producer Jhane Myers confirmed that the movie will be available to watch in English and Comanche with subtitles when it debuts on the Hulu streaming service on Auguest 5.
"That's never been done for my tribe, ever," said Myers. "There's only a couple of movies. I think 'Star Wars,' which was 30 years old when they transcribed it into Navajo, and then there was Navajo again for 'Finding Nemo,' which was 20 years old when they did that. But this is the first time for a brand new film to come out and have that option to hear it all in the whole language. So that not only inspires the young language speakers of my nation, but that inspires a lot of other people and shows them, and like I said, shows the world what our language is about. Which is thrilling for me."
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), and produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator) and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), with Lawrence Gordon (Watchmen), Marty Ewing (It: Chapter Two), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (Fantasy Island) serving as executive producers.
