An interesting rumour has started doing the rounds this week and, if true, it sounds like a huge star could soon be making their way to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

According to a popular Instagram account that specialises in celebrity gossip, "a prime British early-2000’s film stud is adding to his recent nerdgasm resume (Marvel, Wizarding World)" after he was "recently cast in an unannounced Star Wars extended universe Disney+ show."

It's not hard to figure out that the post refers to Jude Law, someone who has, in recent years embraced blockbuster projects by taking on roles in the likes of Captain Marvel and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He would be a tremendous addition to the Star Wars franchise, and with a High Republic era Disney+ series going into production later this year, that could be where Law is heading.

That's been described as "Strange Things in space," and is expected to follow a group of young Jedi hundreds of years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Jon Favreau is executive producing, while Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts will helm at least one episode.

We've previously heard that the series, codenamed "Grammar Rodeo," was looking to cast a male in his thirties or forties for a lead role, and Law definitely fits the bill there.

It's worth taking this rumour with a pinch of salt for now because this account's track record is probably 50/50 and the news isn't coming our way from the trades. Law playing a Jedi would be a true sight to behold on screen, though we can't help but think he'd make a pretty excellent villain as well.

Stay tuned for the latest on this one as we have it.
