There's been a lot of speculation surrounding whether Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature a cameo appearance from Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn. After all, it's been said on numerous occasions that the fallen Jedi Master is responsible for teaching his former Padawan how to live on through the Force after death, so it would make perfect sense to show us their reunion.
Well, Making Star Wars is reporting that, yes, Qui-Gon does show up for an actual exchange with Obi-Wan. Neeson will first "appear" in the Disney+ series as a voice guiding Kenobi during his lightsaber battle with Darth Vader, encouraging "Ben" to overcome the Sith Lord. As you might expect, that inspires the Jedi to prevail in the battle against the monster once known as Anakin Skywalker.
Of course, that's just a voice cameo, and it will be in the sixth episode we get to see Neeson as Qui-Gon again. Appearing on Tatooine as a Force Ghost, he supposedly stands in front of a shocked Obi-Wan, smiles, and asks what took him so long. With that, he tells his one-time pupil that he's been with him this whole time, and the stage is set for him to teach Obi-Wan his final lesson.
Star Wars fans have often wondered what Obi-Wan spent all those years on Tatooine doing, and after this adventure, he clearly masters how to become one with the Force. It's no wonder then that he ultimately allows Vader to strike him down because, by that point, he knows he can become more powerful in death. This sounds amazing and we can't wait to see the scene play out!
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 27 with its first two episodes.
