The second Lucasfilm confirmed Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, fans immediately started speculating about how Luke Skywalker might factor into the series. While he's only a kid at this stage, the potential to do something is there, though we recently learned that the young Princess Leia will likely get a little more screentime.

That makes sense on a number of levels, but it doesn't mean Luke is being sidelined. Making Star Wars explains that, when the series begins, Obi-Wan is still being haunted by his failure to stop Anakin Skywalker from falling to the Dark Side. As you might expect, that past tragedy makes the Jedi Master more intent to protect Luke, and he watches from afar while the youngster spends a day at the market alongside his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

Unlike his Princess sister, Luke doesn't have everything he wants and is denied a toy he wants. Later, Obi-Wan approaches Owen in the desert and reportedly tries to pass on a T-16 Skyhopper toy he's bought for the boy he's been tasked with protecting. Owen refuses because he believes "Ben's" presence on Tatooine is putting Luke in danger, and he needs safety...not toys. Remember, though, that A New Hope shows Luke playing with one years later, so we'd bet on him getting it somehow!

Leia, meanwhile, does end up captured by the Sith Inquisitorius, but is as defiant and plucky as the young woman we'd one day see stand up to Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. While Obi-Wan does eventually rescue her, it's said that the hero is in disguise, thereby avoiding any pesky continuity issues with the Princess reaching out to him for help during the opening of A New Hope.

Kumail Nanjiani's mystery character is said to be part of this mission to rescue Leia, while the site even suggests that the "prison break" episode is what leads to Obi-Wan's first duel with Darth Vader.

So, we can expect to learn more about what it was like for Luke growing up with his aunt and uncle on Tatooine as well as Leia's vastly different life on Alderaan. That's an interesting dichotomy to explore in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and one that's likely to help better establish their place in this Galaxy Far, Far Away; needless to say, we're excited to see "Ben" interact with both children in the series!

Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on Disney+ on May 25.
