Graham Hamilton, the actor who played Luke Skywalker on the set of The Book of Boba Fett, has taken to social media to share his thoughts on being part of bringing the Jedi Knight back to the screen. We're anxious for a behind-the-scenes look at that process (expect details in a future Disney Gallery episode), but at least have an idea of what happened thanks to The Mandalorian.
There, Mark Hamill's voice was synthesized through a computer, meaning we didn't even hear the actor's actual voice! As for Hamilton's physical transformation into Luke, a mixture of de-ageing techniques and Deep Fake technology would have likely been used to bring this beloved character back to this Galaxy Far, Far Away. It's scary how good visual effects like these have become!
"What can I say," Hamilton says in the lengthy Instagram post below. "Co-creating [Luke Skywalker] for [The Book of Boba Fett] with master [Mark Hamill] was one of the most magical and fulfilling creative experiences of my life. Deep gratitude to [Dave Filoni] and [Jon Favreau] for bringing me into the family and to all the geniuses [at Star Wars and Lucasfilm] who remind us of the power of myth, and the deep responsibility of artists who bring these archetypes to life. It's hard to express what this all meant for me, how unimaginably moving it was and still is."
He goes on to list a number of highlights, including playing with Grogu, "geeking out" with Ahsoka Tano actress Rosario Dawson, and training to bring Luke Skywalker into this Disney+ series.
Will he return in tomorrow's The Book of Boba Fett finale? Fingers crossed.
