Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II; The Land) has revealed a pair of exciting new additions to the cast, as BAFTA Film Award-nominee Michelle Yeoh (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings; Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Pete Davidson (The Suicide Squad; Saturday Night Live) have boarded the project in key voice roles.
Yeoh will voice Airazor, a Maximal who transforms into a peregrine falcon, while Davidson will voice Mirage, an Autobot who transforms into a silver-blue Porsche 964.
The film is currently in post-production and it seems likely that we'll be getting more voice casting announcement over the coming weeks. Whether we get a first look at the film before the end of this calendar year remains to be seen, but we wouldn't rule out Paramount wanting to debut its teaser trailer this December in front of Avatar: The Way of Water.
Plot details remain scarce, but last year, when we attended an exclusive production launch event, we learned quite a bit about the film's 1994 setting and what will bring the Autobots and Decepticons to Earth thirteen years before the events of the first film.
Outside of the show-stopping robots in disguise, the film will star Anthony Ramos (In the Heights; Hamilton), Dominique Fishback (The Deuce; Judas and the Black Messiah), Luna Lauren Vélez (Dexter; Ugly Betty), and Tobe Nwigwe, with Peter Cullen (Transformers; The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) set to return as the voice of Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman (Hellboy; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as the voice of Optimus Primal. Additionally, Grey Griffin will voice Arcee and Sebastian Maniscalco will voice Wheeljack.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
