Denis Villeneuve's Dune sequel - which will now know is actually the middle chapter in a trilogy - officially begins its global rollout today, but the movie is already off to a great start at the box office thanks to Thursday night previews and overseas screenings.
Part Two took in almost double what the first movie ($5.1 million) did from preview screenings back in 2021 with $10 million. Its international tally sits at $7.6 million after opening in 13 foreign markets.
As things stand, Dune 2 is expected to take in as much as $150 million to $175 million worldwide over its opening weekend - although Warner Bros. is being more cautious with $140 million prediction.
Stellar reviews are sure to entice more people into the theaters, and the movie is now "certified fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with a very impressive 95% critics and audience score.
