For many, the highlight of last night's CinemaCon presentation was getting to see the first footage from James Cameron's Avatar sequel, which is now officially titled Avatar: The Way of Water.

The reaction to the teaser trailer was (mostly) very positive, although some remain sceptical that Cameron will be able to come close to replicating the success of the first film.

"We need to make sure [audiences] have an experience they can’t get anywhere else, and that needs to be exclusively in theaters,” said producer Jon Landau in introducing the teaser, which will debut exclusively in theaters ahead of Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Landau also announced that the original Avatar will be re-released with restored picture and sound on September 23.

Check out the official logo for The Way of Water below.

Set more than a decade after the original movie, The Way of Water will follow returning heroes Jake Sully, (Sam Worthington) and Na’vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and "the lengths they go to keep each other safe." Landau also revealed that each of the upcoming sequels will serve as a "stand-alone film that together are an even greater connected epic saga.”
