Ewan McGregor appears to have let it slip that he will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi - but not in a second season of the Kenobi Series.

McGregor reprised the role of legendary Jedi Knight for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was set between the events of the Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy, and the actor has expressed interest in taking another trip to the Galaxy Far, Far Away on a number of occasions since the show ended.

Though some felt that following Kenobi as he left Tatooine, faced-off with Darth Vader, and met a young Princess Leia was already a bit of a stretch, McGregor remains adamant that there are more "stories to tell" before Obi-Wan's fateful meeting with Luke Skywalker in A New Hope.

“I loved, more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness’ work because I was playing him as a young man,” the Scottish actor told Variety in a 2024 interview. “Even now with the series, that’s my personal challenge — if a take feels a bit like him, I’m happy."

"I really do hope we get a chance to do another one,” he adds. “Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”

While a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is looking increasingly unlikely, a recent rumor claimed that McGregor will appear as the character in Ahsoka season 2, which now seems to have been confirmed.

Though we don't have a clip or audio from the event, several sources are reporting that McGregor said the following during an appearance at Fan Expo Boston 2025 alongside Hayden Christensen, who is also expected to return as Anakin Skywalker.

"We begin shooting season two [Ahsoka] soon – wait, was I supposed to say that?”

Probably not, Ewan!

Of course, the events of Ahsoka take place long after Kenobi's death, so it's assumed that he will either be back as a Force Ghost, or appear via flashbacks.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.

All episodes are now streaming on Disney+.
