There's a huge amount of excitement surrounding Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa, and star Anya Taylor-Joy has now confirmed she's wrapped shooting on the project.
The production, which is based in Australia, has faced a few challenges (including director George Miller coming down with COVID), but nowhere near as many as the previous chapter. Work on Furiosa has clearly revved up since then, and we've heard nothing about any further delays or issues.
In the Instagram post below, the Furiosa actress says, "Thank you to those of the wasteland- the crazies who have run amok with me up and down this country. The most fun, the most resilient, the most talented."
"It has been an honour and a privilege to create with you all," Taylor-Joy continues. "Thank you for making me tougher than I ever thought I could be. Fire, blood and guzzoline, Furianya."
Set photos offered an early look at the actress transformed into the character originally played by Charlize Theron, and we're definitely intrigued to learn how this origin story plays out. We're sure Miller will pull out all the stops for this adventure, though a teaser trailer is probably unlikely to head our way before the New Year.
"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus," reads the movie's synopsis. "Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."
As well as Taylor-Joy, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Goran D. Kleut, Quayden Bayles, Angus Sampson, and Shakriya Tarinyawat.
Furiosa is set to arrive in theaters on May 24, 2024.
