Godzilla's future in the MonsterVerse is currently unclear, especially as Toho is looking to put the focus back on its own non-Americanised version of the iconic Kaiju. Following the release of Shin Godzilla in 2017, the company now plans to create its own cinematic universe revolving around the fire-breathing beast with its own continuity unconnected to what Legendary Pictures has done.
Now, the King of the Monsters has received an updated look ahead of those future plans. As you can see below, this Godzilla is more in line with the traditional version seen in the Showa and Heisei eras, mixing what we saw in the likes of Mothra vs. Godzilla and Godzilla vs. The Thing in the 1960s with the take on the monster that was featured in 1991's Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.

We can't say for sure whether this Godzilla will be in the upcoming movies, but it seems likely. Either way, it's a very cool take on the Kaiju, and one that longtime fans should appreciate.
Back in the MonsterVerse, it seems the focus is being shifted to King Kong. Son of Kong is expected to follow Godzilla vs. Kong, while two spinoffs are also on the way. The first is an animated show titled Skull Island, while the second is a live-action project that focuses on Monarch and other Titans.
What do you think about this new Godzilla?
