With Jurassic World Rebirth set to roar into theaters tomorrow, Paramount is seizing the moment with another major reveal—dropping the first official trailer for Edgar Wright’s highly anticipated dystopian thriller, The Running Man. The film stars Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters, Anyone But You) in the lead role.
Set in a near-future society, The Running Man centers on the most-watched show on television—a brutal, high-stakes competition where "Runners" must survive for 30 days while being relentlessly hunted by professional assassins. Each moment is broadcast live to a bloodthirsty public, with the cash prize increasing every day the contestant stays alive.
Powell plays Ben Richards, a blue-collar worker driven to desperation by his daughter's worsening illness. Persuaded by the show's slick but cutthroat producer Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), Ben enters the deadly game as a last resort. But his defiance, survival instincts, and raw determination quickly turn him into a fan favorite—and a threat to the system itself. As the ratings soar, so do the stakes, forcing Ben to outwit both the Hunters and a nation hooked on watching him fall.
Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, this marks the second live-action adaptation of The Running Man, following the 1987 cult classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition to Powell, the cast features William H. Macy (Fargo; Shameless; Boogie Nights), Lee Pace (Foundation; Guardians of the Galaxy; Pushing Daisies), Emilia Jones (CODA; Locke & Key; Fairyland), Michael Cera (Superbad; Scott Pilgrim vs. the World; Juno), Daniel Ezra (All American; A Discovery of Witches; Blood Cells), Jayme Lawson (The Batman; Till; The Woman King), Colman Domingo (Euphoria; Ma Rainey's Black Bottom; Rustin), and Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men; Avengers: Infinity War; Dune).
The Running Man hits theaters, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Premium Large Format, and IMAX on November 7!
